The Concept
The concept is the brainchild of Alan Dickinson and Russell Yeomans, armchair sports enthusiasts with successful careers in human resource consulting. They joined forces with Jon Sleightholme, formerly a professional rugby player for Bath, Northampton Saints and England, who provided the crucial sporting expertise required to successfully develop the Career Coaching service offering in a way which was specifically tailored to elite sportspeople.
Russell Yeomans / CEO and Co Founder
Russell Yeomans
Previously a Director of Hudson Global Resources, Russell grew their market-leading executive recruitment and HR Consulting Operation across Asia, before becoming a Director of Hudson’s European business. Russell’s many years of experience have proven invaluable in designing the technical backbone of the Careers After Sport/Sport2Business services and in bringing “best practice” from the world of business coaching to the sporting community. An avid golfer and amateur sportsman, he now combines his passion for sport with his love and knowledge of people development in this challenging developmental arena.
Alan Dickinson / Chairman and Co Founder
Alan Dickinson
Alan brings many years of senior management experience in the field of executive recruitment. Initially a qualified accountant, he enjoyed a career of almost 20 years with Michael Page International, finishing as Managing Director of the Group’s UK businesses. Since 2000, he has been involved in a number of different businesses, including start-ups, turn-rounds, acquisitions and disposals. In addition to his very “hands-on” involvement with Careers After Sport/Sport2Business, he is currently a non-executive director of a small number of other businesses.
Jon Sleightholme / Managing Director Rugby
Jon Sleightholme
An ex England International and Northampton Saints wing, Jon made a successful transition from professional rugby to the commercial world by becoming Head of Business Development for a division of the Caudwell Group. As a key member of the Careers After Sport founding team, Jon now heads up all rugby-related aspects of the business and spends time in person as a Career Coach, working with existing professional rugby players who are planning their future careers.
Simon Smith / Business Development Manager and Career Coach
Simon Smith
Simon had a successful rugby career with Wasps and England, also playing for Lichfield, Fylde and Cambridge University. Simon has degrees from Lancaster University (Economics) and Cambridge University (Land Economy). He has experience as a Chartered Surveyor and a teacher of Economics. Simon now works as our Business Development Manager but also continues to run a speed and conditioning programme for Cranleigh School Rugby and coaches Harlequins Schoolboy Academy.
